St. Hugh Church presents Janai Brugger

The St. Hugh Steinway Concert Series is presenting American soprano Janai Brugger, right, in the second concert of its 2014-15 season, which will take place November 14, at St. Hugh Catholic Church. Janai will be accompanied at the piano by Artistic Director Roberto Berrocal.

Janai, winner of the 2012 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions as well as Plácido Domingo’s Operalia competition, possesses “a shimmering soprano that caresses each line with tenderness," and has been described by Opera News as “Gifted with a supple, beautifully shaded lyric soprano...who knows the value of economy and clarity." Her young career has taken her to The Met, Covent Garden, the Ravinia Festival, and the San Francisco Opera. She will delight our audience in works by Puccini, Strauss, Barber, and some zarzuela and Broadway favorites.

As is already customary, a portion of the proceeds from these concerts will be donated for the development of various projects and charitable groups under the umbrella of St. Hugh Charities as part of our commitment to St. Hugh Parish, which sponsors the series, and in order to fulfill our duty as Christians to help the needy while providing sound entertainment that enriches the mind and promotes culture.

Tickets are $60 for preferred seating and $40 for general admission.

St. Hugh is located at 3460 Roal Road.

For more information and for tickets, please consult the series website, www.sthughconcerts.org, or the parish’s website, www.sthughmiami.com, or call 305-318-5008.
