Tonight, October 2, the Coconut Grove Gallery & Interiors and the Bolivian consulate are presenting, "The Colors of INTI."
In 2010, with an aim to help underprivileged children in Bolivia, artist Rosario "Chary" Rico-Toro established the INTI Foundation, she brings awareness to the foundation through her colorful artwork.
Chary, shown here, was born in a military post in Robore, Bolovia, she grew up in a deeply religious military family, one of her cherished childhood memories is time spent in church, admiring the beautiful stained glass windows. These are her muse, her paintings resemble the patterns and shapes of stained glass..
"My intent is to provide the viewer with a child's joyful take on life when looking at the bright colors," says Chary.
INTI is the Native Quechua language equivalent of "sun" and a fitting metaphor for the work of the INTI Foundation. Through her work, Chary has brought light t the plight of underserved youth in Bolovia.
Come out tonight and meet Chary, the event is from 6 to 8:30 pm. The requested donation is $25 per person. All proceeds will go to the foundation and Coconut Grove Gallery will donate 10% of all of their store and gallery sales during tonight's event.
Coconut Grove Gallery & Interiors is located at 2884 Bird Avenue.
