Build a Shofar and then use it in the park

Chabad of the Grove is having a "Shofar Factory: Build your own Shofar" event on Sunday, September 21, starting at noon. A Shofar is a ram's horn.

This is a workshop for families and kids that allows them to learn all about the origin of the Shofar and actually create their own. It is a very hands on experience and gives the kids a chance to build and use their creativity. The event is $5 per Shofar and lasts about 60 minutes.  Please pay at the door.

To celebrate Rosh Hashanah, on Thursday, September 25, at 5:45 pm, in Peacock Park, you can be a part of the Blowing of the Shofar.

The Jewish New Year is celebrated by people traditionally attending synagogue, spending time with friends and family and enjoying festive holiday meals.  One of the many traditions past down from Mount Sinai and practiced on Rosh Hashanah is the blowing of the Shofar. The sound of the Shofar's blast symbolizes many things. The most common is to signify a child's cry. Just as  a child cries out to its parent and the parent responds, the horn signifies the cry of humanity to God to heal the world of its suffering and pain and grant a sweet and happy new year to all. 

This is the second year for this event.
