Tony Scornavacca paintings

A reader posted this to the comments section of an old post, I thought I would post it here so everyone could see it and maybe know where she may find the art:

"I am looking for more information on the late Tony Scornavacca. Are there any of his paintings hanging anywhere? We have some of his original lithographs and love them. Thank you."

If anyone knows anything, please feel free to comment here or contact us via email.

  1. I have a few of Tony's works, one large oil "The one armed man". He was quite a character as well as an artist.

My favorite Tony story - Tony was asked how much he wanted for one of his paintings. When said how much, the patron asked how much it would be unframed and Tony said it was $200 more without the frame. How could that be the patron asked. Well, said Tony, "I think the frame cheapens it."

  2. I have 2 Scornavacca's hanging on my wall. They are what is left of an oh-so-brief-but-hot relationship I had with Uncle Tony's nephew Sal from New Jersey in the mid-70's. They are a self portrait and one of Aunt Angela (I think was her name)both are numbered. Uncle Tony was quite a character and we visited the Coconut Grove house on many occasions. Any interest in the works email me and we'll talk. MJRICCA@aol.com

  3. I have been searching for other Scornavacca art afficianados, I have quite a story to tell, of my mother in coconut grove, at the old Tavern in the Grove. I'm so excited to tell the story. I am also thrilled that I have some of his pieces, a very unusual and unexpected aquiesence. Anyone that would like to correspond, share likeness of their stories with mine. I assure you it is very unique and genuine. I grew up in Pinecrest, so I have a great deal on knowledge of coconut grove and the south miami area.

  4. Well, I'm Tony's youngest daughter and I'd love to talk with all of you! I'm starting to gather digital photos of my dad's work because it is so widespread and we have no photo record of it. Feel free to email me at mfrcpa@atlanticbb.net.
    Thanks,
    Mia Scornavacca

  8. Tony did a color drawing or painting of me when I was in highschool in 1964. I think he called it "Girl with a Straw Hat" (the hat was his). I know it was sold to someone in south Florida and would be curious to know where it ended up.
