Let's help our neighbors in the Bahamas

With the devastation Hurricane Dorian brought to the Bahamas, there is no doubt our neighbors need help. To that end, drop off points and logistics for donations have been set up by the City.

Our District Commissioner Ken Russell tells me there are a  few locations right here in the Grove: Fire Station 8 (2975 Oak Avenue); Christ Episcopal Church (3475 Williams Avenue) and Greater St. Paul AME Church (3680 Thomas Avenue).

Items needed include: generators, batteries, first aid items, canned goods, and more.

"We are planning for seaplane flights, possibly within two days, as soon as the weather allows," says Ken. "Coconut Grove has such strong Bahamian roots, I know that the community will come together to help the islands," he said.

The City of Miami has other drop off locations at all the other fire stations, you can see the full list here.
