Meraki; a new Greek Bistro is coming to The Grove
The new Greek restaurant, Meraki Bistro, is getting ready to open. They have plans for this weekend, but with the hurricane out there, they may be delayed. "With the storm headed this direction a couple of contractors have put us on the back burner as they’re trying to attend to other projects," said Alexander Karavias, co-owner, along with Chef Giannis Kotsos.
They are the partners from the original location in downtown Miami. Part of the owners/team is also George Koulouris who will manage the Grove location with Costa Grillas. Their goal is to bring the best and most authentic Greek cuisine to the Grove.
Lots of Greek names producing lots of Greek food. The menu is large. They will service lunch and dinner but, "Currently we plan to open for dinner only the first couple of weeks to ensure that we are properly set-up and start with lunch on Sept 16. We are also going to open for brunch with a brunch menu on Saturday and Sunday, hopefully starting September 7 and 8," said Alexander.
“I grew up in Coconut Grove, and always dreamt of having a restaurant in my neighborhood. Finally, I can say my dream is becoming a reality," says Alex.
Some items on the dinner menu include lamb kabobs, kalamakai souvlaki, beef and chicken patties, ribeye steak, churrasco and so much more. Sharing plates include fried eggplant, stuffed red pepper, mussels, shrimp Saganki, octopus cakes, Loukaniko, which is sausage fired roasted and char grilled. Chef specialties include Mousaka, Pastitsio, and Makaronia me Kima.
There are soups, salads and desserts. You can see the menu here. They will add the brunch menu soon. They will also offer a wide selection of Greek wine and beer, from the Award Winning Nico Lazaridi King of Hearts to the centuries old Santorini by Boutari. They plan on having daily happy hour specials.
