The traffic lights are out of sync
Have you noticed the timing sucks? In so many intersections, even early in the morning, the lights stay red and you are sitting there, held up for a full minute or more when there are no oncoming cars. The lights literally stay red for what seems forever.
This is at 32nd and Bird, 27th and Bird, Grand and McDonald, 17th and South Bayshore and so on. And at 22nd and US1, the light many times turns green, and only allows two cars to get through to the other side of US1 before it turns red again.
Has anyone else had these experiences? Should we contact FDOT and tell them? Maybe the 311 app will work. Usually if you send a request for a pothole they'll reply on the 5th request. Maybe I'll contact FDOT until they reply.

Agreed @ 32 & 27, Numerous times only 2 or 3 cars get through. But, if people heading North about 7:00 AM to about 9:30 AM, to I-95, go down Tigertail, turn left on 22'd Ave, the wait to get on U.S. # 1 is short and even if you only enter U.S. # 1, and have to stop immediately the light on 17th Ave stays on long enough for you to make it with only one light change before getting to I-95, i.e., once you turn from Tigertail onto 22 Ave, you'll be entering I-95 in about 4.30 minutes.
It feels like this is all around the county. I drove from 27th ave to 144th this morning, and there were multiple times that I would catch three or four lights in a row. The one I was sitting at would turn green just as the next one was turning red. I thought DOT was working on synchronizing the lights, but sure doesn't seem like it to me.
I agree, plus, the recently installed light on Poinciana and Douglas could use some tweaking. I’ve sat there for several minutes during off hours waiting to turn on to Douglas and there are very few cars traveling on Douglas. There seems to have been a need for this light despite locals protesting, but in my opinion it should be blinking during non busy hours. The other day I could have taken a nap before the light turned green.
Download the 311 Direct App and submit a service request. They will open up a traffic study. It's worked for me a few times, as i don't think they get many requests.
