Summer art lessons for adults
The first course of this series, beginning on May 13, will be the "Classical Drawing Intensive." In this course, students will learn how to create drawings that successfully translate three-dimensional form with realism, depth, and atmosphere. Students will have the opportunity to work directly from stationary forms (still lifes) in monochrome scale, using charcoal pencils.
This intensive takes drawing fundamentals to the next level, where different methodologies/techniques are applied to develop work with rich three-dimensional qualities, demonstrating control over the materials (charcoal & paper), accuracy, and understanding of drawing concepts.
Enrolled students will be working with their own reference material, learning how to arrange their own still lifes in engaging compositions. They will learn about the sight-size method, contours and values.
This intensive is open to all levels. Class meets once a week on Mondays for 2.5 hours for four weeks (10 hours total).
This new program is taught by artist and New World School of the Arts alum Johann Muñoz. Johann puts a very strong emphasis on individualized instruction that depends on the knowledge level, skill set, and area of interest of each student.
The Classical Drawing Intensive will occur from May 13-June 10 and will take place at the Art Box studio, located in the Mayfair in Coconut Grove at 2911 Grand Ave, Suite 400E, every
Monday from 7:00-9:30 pm.
