Metrorail station being transformed into mini-city

This is the new project by the Adler Group and 13th Floor Investments which has broken ground at the Douglas Road Metrorail station. It's called Link at Douglas.

The 7-acre, $600 million project will consist of a public plaza surrounded by 250,000 square feet of office space, 25,000 square feet of retail shopping and 1500 residential apartments.

The project will be built in phases over the next five years. The first tower will be 22 stories high with 312 apartments and 6000 square feet of retail, the second tower will be 36 stories high with 421 apartments and 17,000 square feet of retail. Construction will start this summer.

Massive development under the guise of "environmentally-friendly." If people won't ride the metro, then build small cities around each metro station. Cities and neighbors get no say.

If you want projects like the Underline, you are going to have to accept development along the metro corridor. It is the only way to generate tax dollars to pay for it. New York has done the same, If we protest, we will be paying for the Underline for centuries to come.

Are you kidding me? typo? Approved? 22 & 36 stories tall? Will these be the two tallest buildings South of Brickell? I am almost certain the West grove will now have the tallest building on all of US1. Poor defenseless West Grove. These good old rfp's mixed with a couple of slick developers with "relationships" make me sick. Those top few floors are what Adler and 13th Floor refer to as GRAVY. Goodbye West Grove voices, hello private school tuition, shared jets and yacht club memberships. Easy money, Adler and 13th floor are riding the GRAVY train. 36 floors? Is there a building that tall in Downtown Gables or Kendall? Do the residents at least get the rooftop for Goombay? Thank you all for letting me get that off my chest.

A perfect example of how little our local governments care about preserving the character and scale of our neighborhoods.

SILVER LINING. All of these tall building in and about the Grove serve as a wind brake as these mega storms form due to climate change.
My one story home and mango, avocado, cherry and papaya trees have not sustained damage since those MacMansions surrounded my property. Jobie Steppe
