Mad Hatter is back at The Barnacle for 14th season

The Coconut Grove Arts Festival, the St. Stephen's Art Show, the Florida Avenue French Quarter Block Party, the Gifford Lane Art Stroll and now it's time for the Mad Hatter Arts Festival!

Yes, another festival. The Mad Hatter is at The Barnacle inside and surrounding area on Saturday and Sunday March 16 and 17 from 10 am to 5 pm each day. It's usually in November, but due to construction in the area, it was delayed, but now it's back! Come out to their 14th season for the juried art event, which features all sorts of media styles. It's more than just an arts festival, it's also a vintage marketplace where the old Grove spirit, sort of like Gifford Lane, comes through. Buy art and vintage items and beer and food.

Artists AnnaMaria Windisch-Hunt and Uta show off their Mad hats at last year's event

Don't forget to wear your mad hat! And at any given moment, park visitors may spot charming little girls dressed as Alice or the Queen of Hearts, or adults dressed up as a hookah-smoking caterpillars, and in other attire inspired by the classic tale.

Live music is a big part of the festival plus activities for kids of all ages, including a special “Tea Party” with fruity sips and sweets. Adult food is available — as well as ice-cold beer — found at Down the Rabbit Hole, the Festival’s biergarten sponsored by Oasis Lounge and Hookah Bar. And take part in the Coconut Grove Drum Circle - drum, dance, hula hoop and enjoy!

And as is the case every year, there is an under-the-stars screening of the 1951 Disney classic film Alice in Wonderland on the big back lawn on Saturday, March 16 at 8 pm. Tickets are $6 each and admission is free for kids age 2 and under.

The Barnacle Historic State Park is located at 3485 Main Highway and as you make your way to the area, you'll see all sorts of fun and colorful art and people up and down the streets leading up to the entrance.
