'Shake an Erg' competition to benefit Shake-A-Leg

The rowing community of South Florida will unite in the old Coast Guard Seaplane hangar at Shake-A-Leg Miami to host the inaugural Miami “Shake an Erg” competition to benefit Shake-A-Leg on Saturday, January 26 from 9 am to noon.

Newcomers to rowing should know that an “Erg” or ergometer is an indoor rowing machine and provides the most complete no-impact full body strength and cardio exercise. Rowers from the Panhandle to the Keys will challenge themselves and each other for the title of fastest on the erg with all proceeds benefiting Shake a Leg Miami.

The Miami “Shake an Erg” competition promotes another shared purpose, to bring together the South Florida rowing community and jointly host a unique rowing competition. Kids from as young as 10 to veterans over 65 are invited to compete in their age groups. Adaptive rowing categories for rowers with physical challenges will also be available. There will also be refreshments, music and other surprises for participants.

To register for the Miami “Shake an Erg” competition visit Regatta Central. For more information, please visit shakealegmiami.org.
