Issues and options for Village West
A community discussion of student development concepts is the subject of a free community seminar being held Saturday, December 1.
This will be the fourth seminar FAU Civil Engineering students have presented — the last 3 being held at KROMA Gallery. This semester, KROMA is under repairs, and the Seminar will be held across the street at the Miami Dade College Wolfson Campus Gibson Education Center at 3629 Grand Avenue.
Three 5-person teams of FAU students are currently engaged in a year-long design course to prepare building concepts for actual parcels in the Grove's Village West district. This presentation marks the final report for two of the student teams, and the mid-way point for one student team. This Community Discussion provides Village West stake holders with the opportunity to see the final version of two concepts presented to the Community at
the April 28 Community Discussion. It also provides the opportunity to review and comment on one Team’s work-in-progress concept.
Participants will see what is allowed under current land development regulations,
and have the opportunity to discuss any changes needed to protect Village West’s character.
In addition, students from one team will be seeking continuing input during the Spring semester as designs are modified to address serious concerns about preventing gentrification and fostering appropriate development.
The day starts at 10:30 am and ends at 12:30 pm, when networking and a light lunch will be served.
