She sailed the Caribbean in the Quest

After returning from Peace Corps service in Honduras in her early 1950s, Judy Lamar learned how to sail and how to maintain a diesel engine. Then she bought a 37-foot Tayana sailboat named Quest, assembled a crew (her dog Solana and cat Julio) and began an extended journey around the Caribbean.

That was 13 years ago; her boat is currently moored in the Rio Dulce in Guatemala. Lamar will share slides and stories of her adventure at the Rotary Club of Coconut Grove meeting on November 8.

The Rotary Club of Coconut Grove meets every Thursday at the Coconut Grove Sailing Club, 2990 South Bayshore Drive at 12:30 pm. The cost of the meeting is $25 with lunch or $10 without lunch. Open to the public.
