Max Gallery welcomes Peter Max
This is a blast from the past.
On May 15, 2010, Peter Max was in the Grove for an art event. I was reminded of the story by this by a friend. The story appeared in the Grapevine the next day, May 16, 2010.
I remember the night of the event, I went to cover the event, I walked in early and Peter Max was standing there. I went up to him, introduced myself and asked to take his photo. He told me no! I said, "Well I brought half the people here tonight through the Grapevine, so I'm taking your picture!" And he demurely agreed and got Roy Black to pose with him.
It was a great night in the Grove, really fun and the whole town came out.
On Saturday night, the Max in the Grove Gallery (2996 McFarlane Road) welcomed Peter Max, the legendary artist. Search lights and a red carpet greeted guests. Above left: Peter Max with attorney Roy Black, at right: Marcie and Jay Ziv.
The gallery was full of color -- maxed out with Max art.
Art lovers: Marsha Jouben and Cori Gilbert, Margarette Beauchamp and Veronika Guerra.
Victor Issa, Naomi Evans, AnnaMaria Windisch-Hunt, Shirley and Robert Hunt. AnnaMaria's One Ear Society art blog was just called "recommended reading" by NY Arts + Arts Fairs International.
Lesley Smith, Nim Vaswani and Jessica Alizadeh did an excellent job welcoming guests.
Gabriel Colon, Christina Willow and Pablo Hernandez from the Allure Salon, flank Sylvia Roberts (in zebra dress), who owns Max in the Grove with husband Les Roberts.
The gallery is open every day of the week so you can always get your Max fix whenever you please. Prices are quite reasonable.
