Cyclists need to obey the law!
Bicyclists want to be taken seriously and it's annoying as hell when 100 of them are riding in front of you early on a weekend morning, taking up both lanes of traffic. But apparently, that's the law and they can do that.
But when the run red lights and act like they are invincible, well, that's where I think they need some training. They look so cool (or silly) in their spandex and head gear, but under that head gear there are a few who take their life in their hands.
And after not being killed, the cyclists called me a few choice words (beginning with "F"). But he's the one who ran the light! His two friends who were with him stopped at the red.

Tom, get real. Clearly you are at fault here. What on Earth could possibly make you think that a cyclist would stop at a red light?

Literally, When certain groups of Latin bicyclist form into a pack, they become a mob with a mob mentality. Likewise for those motorcyclist who turn into a mob for Martin Luther Kings Birthday. Early in American history mob mentality put many Americans in fear for their lives. Japanese formed armies of mobs in Asia for centuries enslaving millions. Mob rule is universal. Throughout Miami, more so on Key Biscayne and into Coconut Grove and down Old Cutler you better know this and absolutely do not engage the mob, or else. Jobie Steppe
Anon, actually U right. If you drive in Miami you already know the bicycle mob rules. So much so that I declare to my wife when she bicycles XX XXXXX XXXXXX ON XXX XXXXXXXX "REMEMBER YOU HAVE NO RIGHTS". I didn't realize until Tom wrote this article and anon 1:05 commented that cowards form mobs and no one is safe. On occasion, one or two will leave the pack, and into traffic to dare, I.e. I am one of those cyclists that ride regularly. Any cyclist who runs a red is clearly giving up responsibility for their own life or is just stupid. Statistically, if they keep doing it they will eventually get run over.
Pedestrians do it too, I almost ran someone over today as they started to walk onto the street without looking.
Maybe it is all just a part of natural selection where we get to weed out the dumbest people in our society.
What i find frustrating is that when the bicycling community hears about a bicyclist getting hit by a car, many assume immediately that it is the drivers fault and as you experienced today, that is not always the case.
It is the mentality of disregard for others' rights, self righteousness and the aggression promoting belief that the world must be revolving around us that is amplified in bicyclists' behavior as is also apparent in biggot Jobie's.

Going to Key Biscayne t about 6:33 AM, Wednesday there was a pack of bicyclist going through the toll plaza. I watched carefully as I was just left of the pack. The next to last bicyclist began yapping to the last bicyclist, yelling, screaming, the last bicyclist began yelling "No, No, Stupido, it only took a second and the next to last pulled out of the bike lane, where it was safe and pulled directly in front of me, turned around and shot me a bird. I wouldn't run over a stupid dog or one of those Grove Peacock either. Was that you? Jobie Steppe

Jobie amplified four historic facts & compare them to the moment, to a pack of bicyclist for intellectual comparison and you interpretation comes out bigot. Most bicyclist are decent, law biding & conscientious, but half the packs should be ticketed and some jailed for their obvious hostile tilt. And some end up flat as a pancake.

WHEN I HAD LOOK TO MY LEFT TO MAKE SURE THERE WAS NO CARS COMING SO THAT I WOULD BE ABLE TO MAKE A RIGHT HAND TURN AS I WAS TURNING MY HEAD BACK TO MY RIGHT I WAS SO SCARED TO SEE A CYCLISTS RUNNING INTO THE RIGHT FRONT HEAD LIGHT OF MY HONDA PILOT, HE TOLD THE POLICE OFFICER THAT HE HAD THE RIGHT OF WAY AS HE WAS MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN ON TO TIGERTAIL. AFTER THE OFFICER SAW MY SUV WAS NOT OVER THE STOPPING LINES AT THE LIGHT HE STILL WROTE ME A TICKET AS I TOLD THE OFFICER THAT HE WAS THE ONE CROSSING IN FRONT OF MY CAR. Saturday morning, at Bayshore and 22 (Kennedy Park area) I watched a father and son (biking) out into traffic. The son was about 5 or 6 and hesitated, but the father waved him on, into oncoming traffic!!!! They think they're entitled somehow.
Latin Cyclist Lance. Jobie mentioned Whites, Blacks, Latins & Asians, i.e., everyone is capable of ignorant, heinous, stupid transgressions, i.e., that's everyone Lance, including all bicyclist Lance, and that's just a fact. The Blog was about bicyclist being, well, just plain rude, crude and cowardly, and more so for those who hide in the pack, and demonstrate a mob mentality. When this mentality wakes up each morning they see the bicycle and roadway as a place to demonstrate their lack of masculinity - - - - lance. I remember when roller skaters of all races tried to take over sidewalks from skateboarders, of all races and many children were injured. Then it jumpted to kids/teenagers who would walk up to a strangers, hit them in the face as hard as they could to score points, that's score points with the mob friends taking pictures. Several women died along with about 11 males. Now the bicyclist mob has emerged in the pack to show off and make the general public suffer, as if we didn't already have other distractions. John Favela 2:23 PM. Yes you can. You were issued a ticket, correct? On the ticket you can ask for a hearing. Are their pictures?
If not go back to the scene, preferably with a friend to direct traffic around safely. Park your vehicle where it was and take pictures, as fast and safe as possible. Take a piece of cardboard, like a kid would use to paint pictures on for a school project, I think about 2 x 3 feet, white. Illustrate the street, traffic lights and position of your vehicle and how the bicyclist approached. Ask for a hearing. The officer may or may not show up, in uniform. Do not be intimidated by the officer. I've had four citations involving 2 serious auto accidents overturned by the judge. No cyclist involved, but it's the same laws. Once a beautiful lady pulled in front of me and her rear bumper was pulled off. The officer who arrived at the scene was a handsome, buck sum, huge hunk, they pulled around the corner, I'm not suggesting some sexual encounter. I got the ticket. That one I didn't attempt to overturn. It's better than 50/50 you might prevail. The officer should have written a neutral ticket to allow the insurance to figure it out. Jobie Steppe
Lance, Jobie isn't married. Those old timers, fishermen, have a ton of ways to clear bottom feeders, and you took his bait; hook line & sinker. The subject matter was "Cyclists need to obey the law", which no one, not even cyclists SHOULD OR WOULD want to dispute, except if being a cyclist translates into people wanting to cause others, harm, injury or inconvenience, period. People hide in their cars & trucks, on their bicycles, roller blades, skate boards, and electric mini scooters, where they lack basic civilities, thinking somehow they become invisible & immune from common decency. You took his bait lance!? We want you rude bottom feeder cyclist off the road.
There seems to be come confusion regarding the subject matter of "Cyclist need to obey the law". Let me be clear. If you're from the N. Pole, S. Pole, Equator, any continent, the moon, Mars Neptune, Venus, are Black, White, Green, Yellow, Blue, Brown, Red, from North America, Africa, Europe, Central or South America, Canada or anywhere else in our universe and you bicycle in Miami, Key Biscayne or Coconut Grove, think about your fellow human being, especially men and absolutely the women & children before you stick your head up your a-s and play the role of some stupid, ignorant dim witted self-centered bottom feeding jerk. Am I clear, yes, CRYSTAL CLEAR!?

Who the hell is Jobie? He's married to the ocean. A sign on his truck read "Full Body Burials @ Sea $500.00". These days it reads "Do you own a jobie" which displays his art @ jobiesteppe.com. The signs on his trucks are parked at the Seminole boat ramp where he goes Beach Combing in the Keys almost daily. Yet he brings back a lot of lobsters with no license because he's over 75. The only persons who comment that this Jobie lives for the Grape comment section are people who only qualification are people that regularly view the Grape comment section, plus those individuals have agendas that don't relate to comments. Jobie only commented on rude bicyclist, where other comments focused on Jobie. Perhaps Jobie, similar to just about everyone else has grown tired of bicyclist who are misanthropic in nature!?
