Looks like the booters are gone

Good news. The car booters are gone. For now anyway.

The city is trying to work out a new plan with them and hopefully they never return.

The parking lot behind Florentine Plaza, on Fuller and Grand, now has an attendant and it's monitored now and sneaky booters can't get in there and boot people. Southpark Management runs the lot now. Nicole Singletary, BID director, tells me that the BID got involved and helped make this happen.

Also, the booters are gone from the lot near the 24 Hour Gym on Grand Avenue.

Also, some good news about the Optimum Development office building going up next to Greenstreet. One traffic lane had been closed for a few weeks due to construction. It's open now. It could possibly close if inspections don't pass, but for now, drive freely on Main Highway.

I'm not sure what the rates for that lot is, but the Florentine Plaza lot charges these rates seen here. They're a bit more than street parking, but much less than the flat $10 rate that was previously the rule in the lot, whether you parked for one minute or an hour or more.

Unless your vehicle was booted, no one but the booted vehicle owner would take notice. This is how and why a community gets 1st rate up to date info about what's happening around them. This booting 1st came to light, months ago, here in this Grove Grapevine blog. This story inflamed residents, who in turn talked with their neighbors and friends, and a few leaders, few leaders and the BID director. Months later no more booting. Residents in the Grove, 33133, should at the very least read & support the Grape, who more often than not publishes important/valuable info to the Grove residents, who are responsible for taking some informed action. Booting serves only one purpose, profit to the booter at the cost of residents, visitors and businesses. Good move, keep those slime bags out of the Grove
