Robbie Parks

Robbie Parks (Bahama Rob) passed away last night after a long illness, he was 49. He was someone that was loved by the whole Grove and then some. I'm friends with his mother Arva Moore Parks, who you may know as our local historian. Arva told me that Robbie loved Coconut Grove, but we all knew that.

I first met him at the Coconut Grove Bed Race and then ran into him all over town after that. I would see him at Barracuda and then at his little sandwich shop which he ran for a short time at the Kwik Stop. I loved his BLT's, I would go there often.

Rob was very loved, he had friends who were friends his whole life, he knew people from way back in kindergarten.

Such Sad news- I’ll always remember Bahama Rob as that cheerful, colorful, full of life guy with that big laugh of his. He was a Gables high graduate, Navy vet and longtime Grove resident. He was a real ‘old-school’ Grove character in the truest sense. Sad to see him go so young - This is a great loss for the Grove and all who knew him. Rest peacefully Rob!
