Free Kids workshop on Saturday

Art and Poetry Come Together at the Free Kids Art Workshop on Saturday,April 28. It starts at 10:30 am and it's free.

Ever make a poem you were so proud of you wanted to display it big and loud? In this workshop hosted by Dale Zine as part of the 2018 O, Miami Poetry Festival, kids will learn how to make a felt banner and flag, to hold and share poems.

The Flags & Banners workshop is at Shake-a-Leg (2620 South Bayshore Drive) and will be led by poet Jeff Sanford and artists Steve Saiz and Lillian Banderas, The free workshop is on a first-come basis, and will be small in size; participants are encouraged to show up early. Materials will be provided, and no previous experience is needed to participate. At the end of each class all children will have art objects they can hold in their hands and share with pals and parents.  

“We want kids to feel like they can fully express themselves in a fun positive environment,” said Lillian Marie, host of a series of free hands-on, drop-in poetry and art workshops - just for kids - at Coconut Grove’s Shake a Leg during April. “We're artists from different backgrounds and mediums who enjoy empowering children and families through fun art lessons.”
