Sailing Club ready to host Miami Sailing Week

The Melges 24, the A-Cat and Flying Tiger Classes will compete on a circle managed by the Coconut Grove Sailing Club (CGSC) that extends from Vizcaya Museum to Key Biscayne for the 9th Miami Sailing Week, which runs from Thursday, March 8 through Saturday March 10. The  M32 catamarans will be racing on a second circle from Friday to Sunday; this event is the third leg of their U.S. Winter Series.

Looking forward to warm weather and great sailing conditions, 200 sailors from different Countries will compete in a friendly and relaxed Coconut Grove atmosphere. Miami Sailing Week is in fact not only for the competition, but also for the welcoming hospitality and genuine camaraderie. Similar to year’s past, the hospitality for Miami Sailing Week will be set up at both Regatta Park and CGSC where sailors will enjoy cocktails, food and energizing music.

Miami Sailing Week was established in 2010 with the goal in mind of creating a fun filled week of activities related to the sport of sailing. Through the years they accomplished many of their goals and the event became a capstone of Miami’s regatta season.  Along the way they worked with many different one-design classes, the waterfront community, talented artists and benefited several charitable organizations.

For this year activities begin on Tuesday March 6 with National One-Design Sailing Academy. The Flying Tiger Clinic hosted by North U with Bill Gladstone, is a two-day clinic that teaches to be a more complete and educated racer. The program continues with hands on regatta experience with the clinic coaches allowing participants to put the new skills to the test. Throughout the week CGSC will host their regular youth programs, and the youngsters will also be able to mingle with Sailing Week's experienced sailors and receive performance awards for this special week of sailing.
