Excellent! That empty structure was a hotbed for vagrants and crack dealers. I think we can all agree that whatever will rise in its place will be an improvement. Progress is a good thing.
Owners have been deadlocked in years of in-fighting and litigation (https://therealdeal.com/miami/2016/11/29/terra-group-in-pending-deal-to-pay-35m-for-west-grove-assemblage-tangled-in-lawsuits/).
This is a very positive development.
1st of many that need to go, but what will happen now? What about the displaced? Ive heard that Terra pulled out because of the contaminated soil due to old smokey...if thats the case how much more of the area is poisoned? When will the city step up and act on this neglected part of town?
It's about time. All these decrepit structures need to go. The sooner the better.
A vacant lot would be a huge improvement over that disgusting eyesore.
I think the proposed amendment to NCD-2 & NCD-3 code will be a big setback to affordable housing in the West Grove. PZAB hearing April 4th at 6:30. It allows affordable housing 100% bonuses for more density in all of Coconut Grove not just the West Grove.
Really shooting a good idea in the foot. If developers can make more $$ building in North, and Center Grove they will.
