The Lake Worth Street Painting Festival

We took our yearly drive up to Lake Worth for their Street Painting Festival which takes place one weekend in February each year. Lake Worth is what Coconut Grove could have been.

The center of town shuts down and hundreds of artists take over the streets. Literally.
The whole town takes part - the library has an open house and promotes the Little Free Libraries, the stores and vendors are out on the streets, school children perform, drum circles take part. It's a whole event.
Parking is free in many lots and it's a fun weekend for everyone.
We usually drive up on Sunday, the second day of the event so that we can see the finished art, but this is the first year we went on Saturday, and it has a totally different dynamic. For one thing, it is not as crowded as many people wait for Sunday and on Saturday, you see the art being made, where on Sunday, most of it is done already.

There is a lot of live music, a main stage at City Hall and lots of food and drinks on the streets as well as all the bars and restaurants are open and flowing onto the sidewalk.

If you have time today, Sunday, drive up, it's worth the trip up I-95, it's maybe an hour and a half drive.
This is the main stage in front of the multi-colored City Hall.
