We are on the 'Crane Watch' map
The South Florida Business Journal has a page called "Crane Watch" where they pinpoint construction projects on a map. Well, the Grove has the dubious honor of being added to the map. There are so many projects in Coconut Grove now that it is worthy of the Business Journal's map.
If you go to the map and click on a pin, it will give you info on the project.
You can do that here.
Speaking of cranes, it seems that the South Miami is going to review their decision to stop the Sunset Place project. The developers have threatened to sell off the place at a discount which would apparently turn the downtown South Miami area into doom and gloom, and the residents and business owners are scared of that. So the city commission will review their decision and most likely reverse it.
The power of developers and greed and selfishness.
Just today, the Herald has a story on Bernardo Fort-Brescia, founder of Arquitectonica, who destroyed mangroves behind his house to open the view. They just do what they want. Disgusting. Killing the environment for their own benefit. As one disgusted neighbor says, he feels the rules don't apply to him.
We need campaign finance reform so that these developers won't be in the pockets of politicians I would like to do a 10 With Tom with our mayor-elect Francis Suarez and ask him about this. I'll do that soon.
