Judging for February's Arts Fest starts this week

Jurors will gather this week on Wednesday, October 11 and Thursday, October 12 at the Coconut Grove Arts Festival offices, to select artists to participate in the upcoming 2018 Coconut Grove Arts Festival (CGAF).

Of the nearly 800 submissions received this year, applicants represent an international group including artists from the United States, Argentina, Canada, Costa Rica, Columbia, Czech Republic, Ecuador, Georgia, Israel, Italy, Peru and St. Croix.  A total of 44 states in the U.S. are represented. Last year’s 45 category winners are automatically invited to exhibit their art at this year’s CGAF. Jurors use previous award-winning pieces to set the standards for this year’s submissions.
Jurying of two-dimensional art (2D Mixed Media, Painting, Photography, Digital Art, Printmaking & Drawing and Watercolor) will begin on Wednesday while the seven categories of three-dimensional art (Claywork, Glass, Fiber, Jewelry & Metalwork, 3D Mixed Media, Sculpture and Wood) will be juried on Thursday.

Applications for participation in the fifth annual “New & Emerging Artist” category, designed to allow first-time artists between the ages of 18 and 29 an opportunity to exhibit their work at one of the nation’s leading outdoor, fine arts festivals, will also be reviewed over the two-day period.

The Coconut Grove Arts Festival returns this Presidents Day Weekend, February 17, 18 and 19, 2018 to Coconut Grove. For more information, or to purchase tickets for the 2018 Coconut Grove Arts Festival, visit www.CGAF.com.
