Blocking views, adding cement . . .
There is a petition to help save it.
What I find interesting is that the land does not look large enough to build a high rise, but maybe it is. The funny thing is that if they did knock it down and build up, it would be blocking the water views of the new buildings that went up behind it. They first blocked the Ritz-Carlton views, now this would block their views and so on and so on . . .
It's ironic, but it's also destruction of our village. A handful of developers are destroying the village street by street.
The City of Miami Historic and Environmental Preservation Board (HEP Board) will decide whether the building should be declared historic. The meeting is Tuesday, September 5, at 3:00 pm at City Hall (3500 Pan American Drive).

Why should it be declared historic? What is the reason behind that? What important history has happened in that building? It is really an ugly building that does not add anything to the cityscape of Coconut Grove. I remember when they built the Mayfair, another of Mr. Treitster building, there was also an uproar because it, and other buildings he was building, was destroying the village feel of the Grove. So we really need to get used to change, that is what life is about. Why live in the past?
Want to know what is going to happen? Follow the vote. Follow the money. Of course, you won't see it at the meeting but it will be in their bank accounts. Some very nice donations.
This town has no class. Every house that is built is considered old in twenty years, the whole thing makes me sick. There are no architecturally pleasing buildings. Trust me on that. And we are taking about the habitable parts of Miami. The Grove, Gables, So Miami and Key Biscayne. The rest of it is a nightmare.
It's hideous anyway, so who cares. The Romero Brito of Architects are going to destroy the Theatre and the political vultures will give away Miami's waterfront in the form of 99 year leases to their friends. They are turning Cocowalk into offices but they are building a hotel in downtown Grove? What for? The whole thing is a cesspool of corruption and very poor taste, vision and execution. Just like the whole city. Very Sad
