Should Charlie's property become a park?

There's an story in today's Herald about Charlie Cinnamon's house and land in the South Grove. Charlie, famed PR man and founder of the Coconut Grove Arts Festival, passed away last year and now his family has sold the house and lot to a developer named Andrew Rasken, who plans on splitting the lot and building. What else is new?

But the lot may belong to the citizens. There's an area called "Charlie's Woods" and it was left to the city by famed architect and developer, Walter De Garmo, 100 years ago.

Now the neighbors want to have the property turned into a small neighborhood park. You can read all about it in the Miami Herald here

I don't know what "neighbors" are saying they want it to be a park! I live right next door. I don't think anyone around here wants it to be a park!!! Sad that the property was purchased by a developer. Unlikely he will be able to split the lot. He will tear down Charlie's house and build a home and that is sad, and if you can stop that fine; but that has nothing to do with the city owned space near the home. We do not need a park in our quite neighborhood. Leave the space alone.

Have you seen the January 2004 versus January 2017 photo comparing canopy in the Herald July 21, 2017 edition?

Future generations will likely remember us as a bunch of assholes knowing what we had and how we left it.
