It's the Spring Garden Festival at Fairchild
Fairchild horticulturists and local plant vendors have been growing amazing plant specimens for the 38th Annual Spring Plant Sale. Festival attendees can peruse hundreds of native and exotic plants to add to their growing landscapes. Not sure how to incorporate or care for your new plants? There will be gardening demonstrations all weekend where guests can learn the best ways to care for and maintain their current plantings. To celebrate National Poetry Month, every plant purchased from the Spring Plant Sale will come with a poem written by a local elementary school student. O, Miami and Fairchild are joining together to promote and enjoy the poetry of gardens.
Spring wouldn’t be complete without delicious foods. Browse vegetables, handmade food, and artisan products from local vendors. Pick up a cooking trick as renowned local chefs will lead cooking demonstrations to teach visitors how to make unique spring dishes using fresh, seasonal ingredients.
And you should check out the Spring Garden Tea, part of Fairchild’s Afternoon Tea series, in the Baobab Courtyard each day from 10:30 am. – 3:30 pm. A variety of tea blends will be served with scones, savories, and sweets. Additional costs apply. After tea, check out a fitness class with Equinox Merrick Park as they host yoga, meditation and boot camp sessions at the Overlook and Allee.
Children will be able to learn about Fairchild’s Growing Beyond Earth project, conducted in partnership with NASA.
Don’t forget to take a walk through the outdoor tropical Rainforest to discover the amazing Orchid Odyssey exhibit featuring dozens of orchid varieties in full bloom. Afterwards, head over to the Garden House where 150 original works from more than 50 artists and Fairchild art instructors will be featured as part of the Fairchild Artists in Bloom exhibition.
Admission is $25 for adults, $18 for seniors 65 and up, $12 for children 6-17, and free for Fairchild members and children 5 and under. Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden is located at 10901 Old Cutler Road.
