Charlie Brown update
Hey, old Grovites, especially old Taurus regulars, remember Charlie Brown? We’ll, in case you’ve ever wondered, he’s still alive and well, and kicking with one leg, living contentedly in a facility in Lauderhill. I’ve been his advocate for many years, and help him get the things that make him happy, like Oreo Double Stuff cookies, and reams of typing paper.
In spite of minimal vision, he still bangs away on his typewriter, creating wonderful stories. In the past you have helped him, like when he needed a treadmill. Someone donated one, and delivered it right to his door. He needed money to replace the charger for his wheelchair, and you guys coughed it up.
Now, Charlie needs something real simple – a hand-held tape recorder, so he can dictate his stories to himself, and then play it back and type. He used to own one, but it disappeared in one of his many facility/hospital moves. Anyone out there got one of these relics? I’ll bet someone does. He does not have a computer, or any fancy phone, so he can’t use an app, or anything like that - just a plain old cassette tape recorder.
Just let me know – Deborah Crisp, 305-567-9802, ddcrisp@msn.com. If anyone would like to get in touch with Charlie, I’d be happy to give you his contact info. He does have a cell phone, and he always asks me for news of the Grove. Much thanks to all you sentimentalists.

That guy is and will always be a classic. Surprised yes. Last saw him at Milams a few years ago. he got hit or something.(beat up) He read I believe more books than anyone we know. Loved his articles in the Biscayne Times. Wish him well.
Just what I expected - just a few hours on the Grapevine, and Charlie is already promised a tape recorder!!! Thank you Alexis, whoever you are. You are a shining example of the true human spirit. Charlie will be ecstatic!
Thank you Reid.
I will print any and all comments left on the subject of Charlie, and bring them to him when I visit him on March 11th. I know he will get a charge out of the fact that he is thought of - whether for good or evil! Charlie especially likes the evil part - ha! ha!
Charlie Brown stayed at our house and was a drinking buddy of my dad.i remember talking music and literature with him and getting pretty high.
I enjoyed his good nature. He was a pleasant person.
I hope he is still writing.
