Turning dead-ends into something great

With the help of local artists, hopscotch and other outdoor games are making a colorful comeback in Coconut Grove. We are one of 50 cities in the country to receive a grant from the non-profit KaBOOM! to transform dead-end streets in each district into vibrant and safe play zones closed to vehicle traffic.

City Commissioner Ken Russell, in partnership with the Neighborhood Enhancement Team will celebrate the opening of the new iPlay Miami Play Street at 3499 Thomas Avenue in the Village West on Friday December 9, at 3:30 pm. Elementary school students from The Barnyard after school program have been invited as special guests to inaugurate the Play Street.
