Learn about the Grove through the Culinary Tour

Now that Coconut Grove is becoming known for its new eateries all over the village, it only makes sense to have a tour of the eateries and Culinary Tours LLC is doing just that, in a very unique way.

They are a locally-based hospitality and travel company, and they are starting the Coconut Grove Food & Culture Tour beginning Saturday November 19, and running year-round each Saturday. This first one meets at Peacock Park and runs from from 4 to 6 pm. There is a Coral Gables tour, too.

Discover the culture and history behind the cuisine, while stopping at four restaurants along the way to sample food and drinks. Restaurants on the tour include Jaguar, Peacock Garden Cafe, LoKal and The Spillover.

Each tour is led by Dr. May I. Acquaint (fictitious person), a scientist and time traveler from the mid-1800’s, who transports herself into the future to share the unique backstory on how the city of Coconut Grove was founded. The part I love is that Dr. May is dressed in 19th century attire, that incorporates technology and aesthetic designs from industrial steam-powered machinery, known as Steampunk, Dr. May will intrigue and cultivate both your mind and stomach with mouth-watering facts and bites to eat at her favorite eateries along the way.

“We wanted to create something that travelers and locals alike would enjoy and appreciate," says Sarah Castillo, founder and director. “We had to think outside the box to produce something that wasn’t just another tourist attraction, think Disneyesque. Our goal was to introduce the historic significance of Coconut Grove with the amazing food culture since the area is known for its great shops and delicious restaurants. There is so much significance and wonder in our world if we only allow ourselves to appreciate the experience.”

Continuous discounts and specials are ongoing with new ones popping up every month. Families, Seniors and Solo/Single travelers are offered discounts from 10%-20% per booking and discount codes can be found on culinarytoursmiami.com home page. Those celebrating their birthday can obtain a special discount during their birth month and will receive a special birthday gift using promo code ‘BIRTHDAY’ when booking online.

Tickets start at $59 for adults, $39 for children from (7 to 12). All samplings add up to a full meal and a water bottle is provided at the beginning of each tour.

Tours are intimate experiences with 15-25 attendees, perfect for all ages, walking approximately 1.5 miles through Coconut Grove’s downtown and historic areas.  Tickets to the Coconut Grove Food and Culture Tour are now on sale and can be purchased online at culinarytoursmiami.com or by calling 786-722-2299.

Private Group Tours and Gift Certificates are also available for purchase online.
