Meet actress and animal lover Sylva Kelegian

Hollywood actress Sylva Kelegian has spent much of the last decade deeply immersed in a world most know little about: dog rescue. Her experiences from innocent dog walker to rescuer of more than 500 dogs (and some cats and a few horses) are recounted in her award winning memoir, "God Spelled Backwards: The Journey of an Actress into the World of Dog Rescue." 

Sylva will be signing that book and also her award winning children’s book, "The Dolphin Princess," an engaging story that will take readers on a magical journey full of hope. It chronicles an eight-year-old child’s quest for love, which she finds from unexpected friends on a magical island.

The book signing is at The Bookstore in the Grove from 1 to 4 pm on Saturday, October 8.

Sylva has worked on the New York stage and guest-starred on numerous television dramas including CSI, NCIS: Los Angeles, Southland, Rizzoli and Isles, ER, Cold Case, Desperate Housewives, Big Love, Prison Break, Bones, Without a Trace, and many more. She has starred in independent films and Stephen King’s movie of the week, Desperation, and appeared in movies like Spiderman, Crash, Atlas Shrugged, and Return to Zero. 

She lives in Los Angeles with her husband, actor Jude Ciccolella, and their dogs, Mazie, Nate and Shadow -- all rescues, of course.

The Bookstore event is free and the public is invited. The Bookstore in the Grove is located at the Mayfair Atrium.
