Fall container gardening featured at The Kampong

It’s the beginning of growing season, and The Kampong will be offering two classes on container gardening this fall.  Container Vegetable Gardening is offered on two dates, Wednesday, October 19 or Saturday, October 22, followed by Container Herb Gardening on Wednesday, November 9 or Saturday, November 12. On Wednesday, December 14, just in time for the holidays is Flower Arranging, using plant material from your own garden. All classes are approximately one and one half hours in length, and all materials are provided.  Class cost is $25 for Kampong members and $35 for non- members. Above is Martha Kent at work.

Guided tours of The Kampong are a great way to spend the day learning about this historic Coconut Grove estate, and David Fairchild’s legendary plant collection. One hour docent-led walking tours are offered on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10 am or Noon. Many visitors bring a picnic to enjoy at The Point, with its spectacular Biscayne Bay views. Tours are $20 for adults, $10 for children 4-12, free for 3 and under. Reservations are required.
