Early voting starts today at 7 am

Early voting starts today, Monday, October 24. From now through Sunday, November 6, you can vote in the presidential election, which has many other issues on the ballot. Including Consumers For Smart Solar, which is one of those issues where you want to vote NO, which means YES. It's to our advantage to BE PRO-SOLAR. This amendment is worded to STOP PRO-SOLAR. SO VOTE NO ON AMENDMENT NO. 1.

I won't ask you to vote any other way on any other candidates, that's up to you, but I do believe that we are all in favor of FPL not being a monopoly and allowing people to have FREE SOLAR ENERGY AND PANELS, which if Amendment 1 passes, this will not be the case. SO VOTE NO on No. 1.

From an email I received from a reader: "This amendment is not pro-solar. It is largely bankrolled by the state's power companies and groups with ties to the Koch Brothers. Florida Supreme Court Justice Barbara Pariente has described it as a "wolf in sheep's clothing." It misleads voters by promising rights that already exist while paving the way for unfair fees and discriminatory penalties on solar customers.

"It has no place in our Constitution. Please VOTE NO on 1. See the fact sheet here

"The state's association of solar companies - Florida Solar Energy Industries Assoc. - opposes the amendment. The League of Women Voters  also opposes Amendment 1 as do a host of groups across the political spectrum.

See the growing list of over 100 opponents here: flsolarchoice.org/who-opposes-amendment-1/

Don’t be fooled. Amendment 1 will continue to move customer-owned solar out of reach for many of Florida’s families and businesses and drag state solar policy backwards. Amendment 1 Blocks the Sun."

There is a change this year in that Miami City Hall is not an early voting location. The closest place for Coconut Grove to vote early is the historic Vizcaya Garage. This is next to the old Museum of Science. It's an easy lot to get in and out of and it's not far from City Hall.

City Hall is not being used for this election because large crowds are expected and they feel they need a larger space to accommodate everyone.

The Vizcaya Garage is at 3250 S. Miami Avenue. Across the street from the Vizcaya house.

Voting times every day that the early voting is available is from 7 am to 7 pm.

Here are all the precincts and addresses and sample ballots are there, too.
