30 years later, a Grove staple gets a new look

Grove Gallery & Interiors is celebrating their 30th Anniversary with an event to support the Arts for Learning (A4L) charity. The celebration will bring together long-time and new friends to reminisce and inaugurate a new vibrant mural to their iconic block long lime green building. With so many changes going on in Coconut Grove these days, it's always a pleasure to celebrate a long-time institution.

You have probably notice the neon green facade of Coconut Grove Gallery & Interiors getting a little change these days as a vibrant mural is being painted on the building. Another change for the Gallery is the name, they are dropping the "Coconut" part and it's now Grove Gallery & Interiors. The Grove's artistic roots roots have been revived with the commissioned piece by artists Andrea Karahalios and Ricardo Oliveira. It wraps the corner of the two story, block-long facility. "It is full of striking vibrant colors inspired by the famous Grove peacocks," said Janel Kuhl, chief design officer of the gallery.

To celebrate the mural and the anniversary and the continued excellence of this Coconut Grove family-owned business, a big bash is taking place Saturday, November 5 from 7 to 11 pm. The event will be catered by the Grove’s own Lasso the Moon, renowned for their great food, drinks, dancing and unique experiences. As long time supporters to arts in Miami, Grove Gallery & Interiors will be donating $3 per attendee to the Arts for Learning charity. But get this - the event is free and open to the public.

The partnership with Arts for Learning is their way to support the growth of their industry to the next generation of artists in the Grove. Arts for Learning (A4L) is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing teaching and learning through the arts and community cultural resources. As a leading source of arts programs in Miami, A4L provides traditional and arts-integrated instruction, student studio programs, afterschool and summer programs, high school internships, and teacher and artist professional development. A4L’s services are delivered to more than 120,000 children and youth in approximately 50 schools, preschools, after-school programs, and summer camps throughout Miami-Dade and Broward.

“We are so excited to support the arts in our community and bring a little bit of color and life to everyone who drives by,” says Janel. "This is what being part of a family business and a community is all about. Come out and celebrate this local success story and support arts in our community today.”

What began as a simple frame shop has grown to a full service interior design center with some of the most unique and interesting pieces from around the world. The gallery owner Sheila Kuhl says, “I started this with the idea that I wanted to make the kind of store that I would want to shop in.” She definitely succeeded; the gallery is dynamic and always providing a variety of styles at varying price points so there is always something for everyone. After 30 years of success Grove Gallery & Interiors is unveiling new brand and investing in the next generation of artists and designers.

The event is free at 2884 Bird Avenue, rsvp@grovegalleryinteriors.com space is limited.
