Please help stop one home from turning into seven

There is a property at 4384 Ingraham Highway that held one house and now is planned to hold seven in Battersea Woods. On Thursday, September 8, there is a hearing to ratify the now tentative replat of the property. It's on the agenda as PH-4. This is scheduled to heard in the morning, about 10 am. If you are against the replatting of seven big box houses going onto the single plat property, now is your time to speak up at the meeting. Bodies are needed to attend.

The hearing to Ratify the Now Tentative replat of 4384 Ingraham Hwy is on the agenda as PH-4 for Thursday's City Commission meeting, this item to be heard at approximately 10 a.m.

If you do not approve of the making of 7 huge units where there was formerly one home, an action which violates the NCD-code & want to make sure that your voice is heard, please show up and possibly even join the chorus by speaking up on Thursday morning.

You can also send an email to the City Commissioner telling them that enough is enough. Here's a sample letter created by John Snyder, a neighbor who has worked tirelessly with the Save the Grove group, to protect the community from this greed and overbuilt monstrosities.

Dear Sir,

Coconut Grove is being seriously damaged, if not destroyed, because the Building and Zoning Departments lack the will to enforce the laws which have been on the books since 2005 . The laws were approved by a majority of City Commission after careful consideration and debate. Zoning laws are meant to protect citizens from development that is injurious to local residents. The current code, Miami-21 Appendix A-3 deals with Neighborhood Conservation District 3 (NCD-3), the South, Central and North neighborhoods of Coconut Grove.

The meaning of this section of zoning code is crystal clear Yet 20 master building permits have been issued in violation of sections of this code in the last 8 months.

These violations are taking place at least six building sites in the South Grove that were previously single-family residences, they violate both the spirit, and letter of the zoning code.  The City Commission needs to let the citizens of Miami and Coconut Grove know that developers and their attorneys are not in charge of zoning policy. The City Commission passed the law 11 years ago, and it is time for the Commissioners to see that it is enforced.

Vote against PH-4 and, deny the ratification of the temporary plat for “Battersea Woods”. Require that developers are in compliance with the code prior to subdividing property in NCD-3, and send a clear message to developers and citizens that the law must be followed by all. Preserve Miami’s garden spot which we call home.

SaveThe Grove.

Sincerely,

“Your Name(s)”
