FAM Night is back for the season this Saturday
Art displays in various locations include Cory Hunter, a local artist who paints with electricity. Live music from Peanut Butter and Jelly, Ronnie Brooks and other talented acts at CocoWalk, Vinos in the Grove, Spasso, The Grove Spot, Oasis Hookah Lounge, Grove Ink Tattoo, Lucky 14, The Spillover and The Miami Conservatory of Music will be all over the Center Grove.
Open house receptions at Art Box and the grand opening of OM Movement. Jaguar, Peacock Garden Cafe and Le Bouchon du Grove will offer a complimentary cocktail with entree for FAM attendees. Spasso & Bice Bistro will offer a special Saturday happy hour from 6 to 9 pm.Visit CoconutGrove.com/FAM for a complete listing of participating businesses.
The FAM Night is sponsored by the Coconut Grove Business Improvement District to promote cultural tourism. The community event is free and open to the public.
KROMA Gallery has a special exhibit called "Prison Lock Portraits" by Derrick Joshua Beard (left) it will will take place from 6 to 10 pm.
Mr. Beard is a noted collector of African Americana and is currently based at the Amistad Research Center in New Orleans. The exhibit will be on view until December 31.
Construction and real estate developer Derrick Joshua Beard is considered one of the pre-eminent collectors of African Americana. His collection of decorative arts, books, documents, photographs, and other items has been widely exhibited around the United States.
