Lin-Manuel Miranda's 'In the Heights' at Area Stage

In the Heights is being presented at the Area Stage Company from now through Saturday, August 27.

But tonight, Wednesday, August 10, there is a free reading of Shakespeare's Scenes of Power, it's excerpts from the First Folio read on stage by The Shakespeare Troupe of South Florida at 7:30 pm.

In the Heights is a musical with music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, of Hamilton fame, and a book by Quiara Alegría Hudes.

The play tells the universal story of a vibrant community in New York’s Washington Heights neighborhood – "a place where the coffee from the corner bodega is light and sweet, the windows are always open and the breeze carries the rhythm of three generations of music."

In the Heights is the winner of the 2008 Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Score, Best Choreography and Best Orchestrations.

Area Stage is located at 1560 S. Dixie Highway (at the Riviera Theater).

Tickets are $15, $25 and $30 and may be purchased here.
