Miami Dream Dog Park event

Earlier this week, Beneful, a Purina dog food brand,  helped fix up the Dog Park at David T. Kennedy Park. The Beneful team gifted the City of Miami $20,000 to support the popular local dog park as part of its 2016 Dream Dog Park Project. In addition to the donation, they worked side-by-side with Miami Parks & Recreation and community volunteers to install and paint new park equipment and help with beautification efforts.

A Coconut Grove pup was excited about the spruce-up, which took place on Wednesday, July 20.

The donation comes as part of the sixth Beneful Dream Dog Park Project, a year-long program by the dog food maker to support the renovation and creation of community dog parks across the country.

The volunteer crew – including local dog lovers, City of Miami employees and the Beneful team – worked together to assemble and install new seating equipment and enhance the dog park’s landscaping.

Working together, Delia Domingo Davis (left) of the Beneful team and Deputy Director of the City of Miami Parks & Recreation Department, Lara De Souza, paint a new picnic table at the Dog Park at David T. Kennedy Park.

This is so great. Love this park, love playing with my dog while enjoying the beautiful sea breezes and view.

Is there a law requiring every park in Miami to fence in a portion exclusively for people longing for companionship, so they may purchase a dog and socialize with other pet owners? Why is there a Dog Park on million dollar Bayfront land? Why is there a Dog Park without trees or shade? Would this fenced in area not be more practical if it were to be moved to a more suitable location?
