Last weekend, The Kampong hosted Bali Ha'i, their most popular fundraiser. It's a beautiful mixture of food, wine, friends and nature. Auction items were also a large part of the 22nd annual event. This was the 100 year anniversary of David and Marian Fairchild’s purchase of The Kampong in 1916. David Fairchild brought over so many of the plants now considered local. Above, the blue Don Julio truck was striking amongst the greenery.
The event raises funds to maintain and expand The Kampong’s tropical botanical collection, providing a living classroom and laboratory for visiting scientists, students, and garden visitors. Regarded as one of the most important food and wine events on the Miami social calendar, Bali Ha’i at The Kampong has sold out each of its twenty years with over 450 upscale gourmets in attendance.
