Water Festival at Vizcaya

Tigertail, a Florida pioneer in innovative art,  will present Eiko Otake, A Body in Places, a sunset performance, and video lecture, A Body in Fukushima, as part of their month-long Water Festival. This is Eiko in A Body in Places at the Philadelphia train station, photo by William Johnston.

The event takes place at Vizcaya on Wednesday, March 30 and Friday, April 1, staring at 6:30 pm each night. Vizcaya is honored to have the Consul-General of Japan in Miami and Stella M. Holmes on-site for a private reception and conversation with the artist Eiko on March 30.

Eiko Otake's solo debut began through research in 2014 at Fukushima, Japan, the tsunami- and nuclear-inflicted site. Since 1972, Japanese-born choreographer/dancers Eiko and Koma have created a unique and riveting theater of movement out of stillness, shape, light and sound.

Eiko selected the Vizcaya location for her show, which she visited earlier in the year. The performance will be specific to Vizcaya and the time of day. If you were to attend all three performances, you would see three different interpretations of the same piece of work.

If it rains, that will be part of the performance, bring your umbrella!

Tickets are $18 general admission and $50 for VIP tickets which includes museum entrance fee, pre-performance reception and post-show meet and greet. Tickets may be purchased here.

A second performance will be held on Friday at 10:30 am.

Vizcaya is at 3251 South Miami Avenue, for info: 305-324-4337.
