It's all about the eyes, when it comes to Monique

Monique Lassooij had her work featured on Saturday night at Hair by Hisham. Yup, at the hair salon. They are perfect Grovites as they are always part of something Grove-y. Hair by Hisham, which I don't visit often, is very often a part of what's going on the community, they are a part of it. 

It was surreal enjoying a champagne reception and enjoy Monique and her art, while just two feet away, someone was getting their hair did. But I remember that Allure, the previous hair salon in that location, did the same thing. The whole thing is an event - ducking hair dressers, sipping champagne, meeting friends and new friends - a great way to spend a Saturday night. So many of Monique's friends, or shall I say, "Pet Peeves," as she lovingly refers to them, stopped by to say hello.

The bar was in the back and Monique's art was all around the space. Love the pilgrims. With her art you'll notice, it's all about the eyes.

Live music was provided by Peanut, Butter & Jelly, right outside on Main Highway.
