Choices organic cafe opens this weekend

Choices, the new organic cafe, is opening on Saturday, February 13 at their new Grove location, 2895 McFarlane Road, which couldn't be a more perfect weekend for them since they are right at the main entrance and exit of the Coconut Grove Arts Festival, which is all weekend.

Choices will have samples (maybe juices and such) and displays up on their main deck out front, lots of people are happy about having the organic cafe right in our village now.

They offer pick-up, delivery and catering and you can order online at order.choicescafe.com.

The menu is large and is full of the things you've come to love.

Inside, as you can see they have "Ganesh Grove," a small sitting space where people can mix and mingle; they also have other, more traditional seating. The bakery section is not open yet, it will be part of the store.

On the menu is their Organic Breakfast, Organic Beverages, House Specials, Organic Meals $10 and under, Organic Salads and Bowls, too.

Customer favorites include Mental Lentil, which is lentil meat, black beans, quinoa, plantain, sauteed onion, pico de gallo, cashew cheese, avacado and tahini sauce ($16.37).

VA's Insane Mex is Soy Chorizo, black beans, quinoa, plantain, pico de gallo, sauteed onion, cashew cheese, vegan mayo ($13.92).

The Everything Salad has sprouted tofu, soy chorizo, quinoa, black beans, sauteed mushrooms, sauteed onion, plantain, cashew cheese, avocado, pico de gallo, carrots, mixed greens and house dressing ($18.71),

There is Mac n' Cheese, Sauteed Veggies, Seasonal Fries and Homemade Soup (all made their way with healthy substitutions (from $4.76 and up).

The Under $10 menu consists of items like Basic Bitchin' Burrito, which is black beans, ginger-garlic rice, guacamole and cashew cheese wrapped up in your choice of a whole wheat or gluten free tortilla ($8.79). Or there is the Insane Taco Slides with soy chorizo ($9.91); the Mexicano Salad ($9.76 and the Lentil Biggie Burger ($8.97).

I know I have friends who shy away from this stuff, but it really is worth a try. Choices is centered around the principle that better eating leads to healthier individuals and an improved society. The food is plant-based, organic and 99% gluten-free and dairy free; and breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served seven days a week.

Cold press juices will be available  all the time. 95% of the food is grown without pesticides.

The great part about Choices, is that their customers are all types, by that I mean, it's not just vegans who fill the restaurant; even meat eaters love the food and enjoy it for a change. Choices Cafe prides itself on offering fusion versions of things like pizza, burgers, sandwiches and salads. They are known for their mushroom quesadillas, Nori seaweed wraps and exotic meals that embrace the Latin American culture through spices; Indian and Asian flavors also are part of the menu.

I don't know their regular hours of operation yet, but they plan to be open for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner, daily. So get your first taste of Choices this weekend.

Choices looks like a welcome affordable, innovative and healthy addition to Grove. Only regret is that it is a another Chain Store and not a Mom and Pop. So is that the future of the Grove? It will be if locals don't support the locally owned and operated business.

I love the fact that a reader can actually find a way to complain about a well priced, healthy, and socially conscious business opening in the Grove. Can nothing make you people happy?!?

Good news...we ARE a mom and pop shop! We are not a 'chain', but we do have multiple locations in Miami. We are privately owned by our passionate founder and CEO, Alex Cuevas, whose life's mission is to give people dining 'choices' that are good for their health, the planet, and animals. Hope you check us out!

I remember this being two stories about 4,000 feet each. Is Choices placing tables throughout?

Choices is locally owned and managed. They have a couple locations in Miami, but they are a homegrown gem! The top floor is being developed into a yoga studio that will open later this year. Great news for the Grove!

Will there be outdoor dining? That is a big plus for many restaurants in the Grove.

In response to one of the Anonymous comments, Choices is a local chain. The owners actually live here in Miami and are very active in the community. I see them at a ton of events. So Coconut Grove is actually supporting the local community with this :D

Yay!
