An idea for that eyesore

That Gardner's Market building is just sitting there, rotting, on Florid Avenue. I have an idea for it - a mixed-use restaurant, shared by a few fast food-type places.

What about dividing it into four and having Chipotle, Panera Bread, Au Bon Pain and Chicken Salad Chick (look it up, incredible).  Hopefully Chipotle will clean up their act, literally and we can have the first Chicken Salad Chick in South Florida, I think the closest one is in Naples.

Dude, parking is non-existent in this location. Talk about the nightmare trying to get in and out of that place?

That location couldn't handle the volume needed to make it profitable for even one fast food franchise, let alone four.

Pauloluigi Italian Restaurant would be great at that location, especially if they included patio tables. Please suggest it to Paul Shalaj.

Someone has to put their thinking cap on. Great location in the GROVE. The previous 4 comments are right on about the parking, the volume required, perhaps several businesses could share, etc., What is the monthly rent?
Come on guys, ideas, ideas and more ideas. More comments on ideas and lets see how the Grape readers can influence a tenant for this location. Helpmotherocean.org would be interested if some partners could be located. Jobie Steppe

We need more ideas and options... with the influx of over 10 new restaurants in the Grove this year alone, I don't think we can handle any more. We need to let the invisible hand of supply and demand help balance which old and new ones will remain. We need deeper thoughts... what are we missing in the Grove? What needs do we have as a community that make us go somewhere else for that service or product?

If there's no parking. could this be the perfect location for a drive-through Kentucky Fried Chicken?! Or a Vegan/Vegetarian oriented low-grease Vietnamese, or a Taco Hell!

A venezuelan restaurant like Doggis would bank there

how about leaving it alone. how horrible would it be to have nothing on that spot? it seems every piece of land has to have something on it. Why can't it just stay paved over?

Ever been to chipotle? You need a home Depot sized parking lot.

What does the grove need? Entertainment. There's none.

What about a real community flea market?
Old books, quasi-antiques, vintage articles, revolving contempary art display,
Crafts and pottery, plants, local fresh produce (from your own trees or garden), flowers,
With a fast food place to stop and eat / to go.

With 18 parking spots and very limited street parking in the area, good luck getting people that don't live nearby to actually stop inside.

Ye, it's got to be something that can be sustained by limited parking; perhaps a healthcare/Obama Care facility for folks who live in the Grove, middle to upper income.

A Craft Brewery.

Many good thoughtful comments. "A CRAFT BREWERY" would be possible and sustainable and that's one business that I'm sure a lot of Grovites would pay to visit - daily!? It would probably be a business that would draw many folks from around S. Florida. Perhaps some mildly salty foods, walk down to the bay and visit some of our parks to walk off the calories, back to the Brewery and then over to Metro-Rail or provide a designated safe driver! The asking rent is $15,000.00, monthly and it was reported to me that there are two contracts to purchase this property. Jobie Steppe
