Historic Bike tour of the North Grove on Saturday

This Saturday, January 2, there is a Historic Grove Bicycle Tour from 9:30 am to noon. Meetin front of City Hall (3500 Pan American Drive)

During the month of January, there will be a three-part Grove Bike Tour Series ushering in the New Year.

This first segment, "Old Silver Bluff," covers the verdant lanes of the North Grove. Get up close and personal with the actual 'Silver Bluff', a pastel-hued limestone cliff paralleling Bayshore Drive and prominently rising along the water at Alice Wainwright Park. While at the park, explore a piece of 'Brickell Hammock,' a tropical hardwood forest with rare flora and fauna. Cruise the shady streets, and see charming vernacular cottages, Arquitectonica-inspired bayside homes, and palatial estates. Throughout the ride, meet the varied cast of locals - rugged homesteaders, mariners, early 20th century industrialists, even today's fiercely independent Grovites, all living in the Great Green North Grove neighborhood.

The free historic bicycle tours are sponsored by the Coconut Grove BID. Please register before attending and bring sunblock, water, and a bike.
