Bikers' Paradise

This was the scene at about 7:30 am, Saturday morning, in front of CocoWalk. You see lots of great things around the Grove early in the morning. Down at GreenStreet and that area, you can see lots of bikers and now with Regatta season starting, there are plenty of people on bikes, running and of course sailing, down near Monty's and the waterfront area. Starbucks at Monty's is packed on weekend mornings this time of year.

Apparently you have never been behind a group like this on Old Cutler. You can't pass them because they don't ride single file as they are supposed to on the street and they didn't use the old bike path so I don't hold out much hope for them using the new one under construction.

They are not great at following traffic signals and they don't even know what a 4 way stop is cuz they don't stop, they go through an intersection all at once and the group is usually longer than an 18 wheeler.

Sorry for the lack of Christmas spirit, cyclers are the scrooges of the road.

Poor you, you're angry because your morning commute is slowed down by a couple of minutes because a large group of cyclists is using the road that is not solely yours. cyclists in groups like that are usually traveling at 20 plus miles per hour. The most you could be slowed down on the very few roads where you might encounter them can not be more than a couple of minutes. Most times cyclists will catch up to cars at the next light. Face it, you are a grinch and the very type of person that makes Miami the rudest city in the US.

I remember when bicyclist and skate boarders went at each other for space with walkers caught in the middle. It isn't just motor vehicles engaged in road rage; now there's the skate boarders, bicyclist, general vehicular traffic and walkers who feel this stress. These large groups of bicyclist are nothing short of a mob mentality and they all know precisely the power and authority they have to pounce upon anyone or small group who oppose their oppressive/aggressive posture. They group together purposefully to make a point just like any other gang. Once going to Jimbo's a group of about 50/60 were in great glee making sure we could not pass, but we did. They followed us to Jimbo's and several got their asses kicked, I didn't even get involved, the rest took off. I sure miss Jimbo's. Let em mob up, who cares?

Who got their ASSES kicked the bikers or the car people. My bet the car people. I bike but find a lot of the bikers rude, but remember bikers do have road rights too and are not by law have to ride s ingle file. Definitely not allowed to take two lanes.

I ride almost everyday, born to bike. And yes, in Miami, some cyclists are very rude. I was shot the 'bird' after a group of cyclists weaved through traffic, cutting off drivers. I was at the traffic signal, stopped, waiting for the mess they created to clear. And there is the other side! I stopped on my bike at the pedistran crosswalk, yellow lights flashing, by Fresh Market and a official town vehicle almost plowed down some crossing pedistrans. Please try to remember that most of us follow traffic laws and are considerate. Some cyclists forget it hurts to be hit by a car, I haven't!

While I commend you for stopping at the yellow flashing lights( please that is pushing it in praising yourself) I for one has gotten a ticket on a bike and did not like it.( draw bridge went up and i went over the cross walk) Most bikers including myself do not obey the traffic laws/ Are you blind. Stop signs lights signals, etc.

It's beyond pathetic to read about fat arses who can't wait 5 minutes, on a weekend, early morning, behind a few bikes, just because they can't wait to get home and get yelled at by their fat wives, or they can't wait to go to their high-stress stupid jobs in Concrete City.

There are rules, cars don't respect them, sometimes, not all of us cyclists always respect them either. Cars don't know what cyclists' rights are, cyclists sometimes don't have the courtesy to let cars go.

But in general, fat car drivers who have NEVER been on a bike, have no clue of what's going on on these Miami streets. Move to Amsterdam for a few weeks, lose some weight, lay off the car, and rent a bicycle for a change to go grocery shopping. It will do you good.

The 6/7 bikers that proceeded to Jimbo's got punched out with several crawling, literally, trying to get away; after 6/7 of them went after my son and I after their attempts to block us purposefully, cowards. However, one comment noted drivers are also rude and lawless, that's true. I've never seen, not one bicyclist stop for a stop sign and only stop when against the red light to avoid being hit by a vehicle. In court, after a bicyclist sued a driver who had the green light, said "he should have stopped, I was on a bicycle". The judge simply laughed and awarded attorney fees to the defendant driver, auto damage and pay for lost work.

About bicyclist @ Jimbo's, actually those bicyclist never mixed well with the Jimbo crowd; beer & bikers vs flowers and tight pansy ware, skinny tires vs. rugged road hug-hers, 400 lb bikes vs 3 lb China specials, masculine head ware, vs pastilles reminiscent of pansy ware displayed at Victoria's Secrets, boots vs. butterfly wings. A real bicyclist is closely related to the lone Marlboro man, but without the smokes, true loner, John Wayne, Clint Eastwood type, otherwise they're just an unnamed face in a crowd that no one will ever know existed!
