Teresa Sarnoff bows out gracefully

So much speculation and yet no one knows what is going to happen. Well, it appears that Teresa Sarnoff has bowed out of the election, she has put her support behind Ken Russell as District 2 City Commissioner. Read her letter here in the Herald.

I was talking with Ron Nelson, Marc Sarnoff's chief of staff today, and I told him how much I like Teresa as a person, but I just didn't want a third Sarnoff term. Mostly because I am not a Marc fan.

I am just reminded here of how much I do like Teresa. She's always been a class act and she did the right thing today.

I am being told that we still need to get out and vote though on Nov. 17 because her name is still on the ballot. I'm not sure why. But that is supposed to be the case to avoid laws suits according to the letter.

I knew my gut instinct was right the day I met her many years ago. I like her a lot. Again, just not as our commissioner. Thanks Teresa. You did the right thing.

I still like her for the job.
Why don't you reread all you have said about her candidacy? You are not a class act!

She may have done the right thing, but how can she say she does not believe in negative campaigning while simultaneously throwing shade at the 'second runner-up"!? That is not a class-act to me.

If Sarnoff endorsed his wife and now she endorses Ken, well may da lord have mercy. On the bright side, the outta town campaign investors will follow. Terra never loses!

Saves me the next trip to vote.

Something isn't right. Question for an attorney, any attorney who's familiar with election law. If Teresa's name is on the ballot and an election has to be held, according to Teresa's letter, if she gets more votes than Ken, would she then be the commissioner? Secondly, I've read several comments here in the Grape that an election is costly, say what, what law dictates an election when a candidate has won? Jobie Steppe

Teresa should not have been a coconspirator in her husband’s efforts to find a loophole in the Term Limit Rule. She could have saved all of us a lot of time, money and friendships if she had done the right thing from the start and not run in the first place. Now that would have shown some real class! Lets hope the Sarnoff's move out of the Grove and out of our sight.

I feel most sorry for Grace. Miami is the loser for not electing her.
Will Marc return the Teresa's War Chest or use it for his campaign to be MDC
Commissioner or FL Rep?

Mr. Steppe, an election is costly. Read something sometime, endorsements and commissions and outta town lobbyists are more than a couple lobsters or stone crab claws at 5am when the shrimp boats arrive around City Hall.

This is a typical Sarnoff ploy. If Teresa's name stays on the ballot she can win since she has not withdrawn officially. This is pure Sarnoff chicanery...NEVER trust Marc Sarnoff.

If she actually OFFICIALLY WITHDRAWS then so be it. Until then its business as usual.

IF she does withdraw it will only be because Sarnoff is trying to salvage what little is left of his shattered political career. He does not want to see this entire community rise up against him once and for all. He's thinking avoiding the final confrontation will allow him to reappear in some other guise in some other race.. That would be the only reason Teresa may withdraw.

Until her withdrawal is official we all must be prepared to stand up against Sarnoff once more to be sure this is the last we ever hear from him.

Let us not let him dupe yet again. VOTE on November 17 for Ken Russell. That is the only way to insure it is Ken on the Dais and not Sarnoff.

In the end Sarnoff did something right, by the way he also started on the right foot nine years ago. So don't lose hope folks "Even a broken clock is right twice a day."

Why did she run in the first place? Why Sid she participat in this scheme? And, Tom, did Teresa ever step in and stop her husband from intimidating and threatening you? Don't think so.

This is a ploy to keep the Russell supporters from the polls on the 17th. Typical Sarnoff crap. It's a smart play and so typical of both of them.

Please keep encouraging people to go to the polls for the runoff.

Keep a close eye on Mr Russell people. If the powers that be have chosen someone it's him. It's too much power for any one man.

I wish all the canidates that ran in Dist 2 best luck in thier future endevors. Man the abuse these people took when trying to do good for the community and run for office. They are villianized for making contrubitions of time and passion to do good. Anyway always glad when these elections are over.

Has anyone heard back from Grace?
Is she willing to endorse Ken? or is she waiting to see if she can take Teresa's place in a run off? Its amazing how calculating all these politicians are. Grace wrote on the grapevine a couple of days ago and was asked her who she would back up in a run-off and she never responded. Can't blame her for holding on, but I would hate to see more of her nasty attacks if she happens to be in a run-off.

Teresa bombed in every debate she attended. Guess Marc provided no help?
