No decision made on the Boat Show issue
So the County Commission did not make a decision Tuesday, on the Miami International Boat Show issue on Virginia Key. As you know, the Boat Show and City of Miami want to hold the event in February and the City of Key Biscayne and its residents are against it.
The Key Biscayne residents claim harm to the environment, but I believe they just don't want all that congestion on the causeway. I am against the Boat Show because of the environmental impact, they want to turn the whole place into surface lots and use it for other events throughout the year when the Boat Show is not there, in the meantime, the Boat Show group has been plowing down everything in site to get ready for the show.
How do the Key Biscayne residents feel about the Tennis Center that's used once a year for the tennis tournament, which I still call the Lipton. I don't know what it's called now.
I was not in favor of the tennis stadium when it was built, as I spent a lot of time in Key Biscayne back then and the traffic was a nightmare, I always felt that they could put the tennis stadium anywhere and people would show up for the matches.
County Commissioner Xavier Suarez took both cities to task; Miami and Key Biscayne; for not finding a solution on their own. But I think the county needs to step in and put the kibosh on the Boat Show. They have done enough damage, it's a fragile island, what else does the County Commission need to know?
I am sure it's all coming down to money, as all these things do. Let's ruin the environment in the name of the almighty dollar. It's green vs green. Environmental green vs the almighty dollar green.

Does this mean that the plot thickens, or that the campaign cash drawer opens for at least one of the county commissioners with aspiration of higher office. You can never tell with these people who operates from principal, and who operates from naked calculation.
My best is that in December the Commission will fold and give the Boat Show what they want.
