Mass Walk for Ken Russell on Saturday
Speaking of our new commissioner, Ken Russell, our Commissioner-elect, needs to make it all legal. So this Saturday, November 14, he is holding a Mass Walk starting at Merrie Christmas Park. It starts at 10 am, with all the confusion over the elections, he's counting on a big team to get out and to be sure voters know that they need to show up at the polls on November 17 to vote.
Bring a friend and be there on time! They will provide coffee and
breakfast before 10 am.

End this parade..."I don't want to give even the perception of impropriety, because this isn't the kind of campaign we were running from day one," Russell says. https://youtu.be/UR8-WOgslfY
Anon 10:12, are you suggesting that a mass walk is some sort of impropriety? Was Martin Luther King's mass marches such an impropriety? Or the mass marches every year in the middle and far East? How about mass marches for civil rights, labor day, veterans day, Macy's, presidential, senatorial's, boys and girl scouts, gays, whatever groups folks feel like celebrating; KEN IS IN!
Commissioner Francis Suarez (together with Miami uber-lobbyist Steve Marin) found a way to stick more than $100K in Russell's coffers...
What a way to start a commissionship!
Returning half the money raised is an admission of guilt! Although well-intended.
Learn your lessons on good behavior well, Mr. Russell. People are watching you and they will remove you from office as easily as you were placed there.
Right anon 3:09 PM "and they will remove you from office as easily as you were placed there". "Easily", try running for office. "Remove", try removing someone from office, good luck! Brings to mind counting your chickens before they hatch or putting the wagon before the horse. Ken's not even in office and you're already tar and feathering him, giving advice and rambling on like some chicken with his head cut off. Relax, take a few deep breaths, drink a few rum & cokes and stop looking @ your crystal ball, chill out!
Pursuant to Florida Statue 106.141 any unopposed candidate must follow to law of the state in regards to surplus funds in a campaign account. The Russell campaign kept what it could by law and what allowed it to cover its final costs and returned what it eventually would have to. It's the law of the state for any unopposed candidate.

Anon 3:09... What exactly is the "admission of guilt"? That he didn't chase away the mailman and close the campaign office when people mailed the checks? That he didn't say "eff off" and punch two sitting commissioners and the mayor in the face when they offered to help him? I get it that you are still pining for the abrasive kicking and screaming that Grace was selling. Guess what? Grace lost, got her clock cleaned. The voters have spoken and they chose a positive attitude and a reasonable man over the bull in the china shop. Let it go.
Anon 8:02, respectfully, on one hand "Let it go" is good advice. On the other hand let these gadflies help "KEN IS IN" because their comments are silly, ignorant, out of touch with reality or common sense, so much so intelligent people have to end up assuming "KEN IS IN"! Jobie Steppe
I've loved everything about Ken except his association with Suarez, one of the worse mayors this city has seen. Close second, Carollo. And to think both their sons are now in politics...talk about a second term. We should watch and listen to the commission meetings and see how refreshing and professional Ken is compared to these two Jr. Clowns.
I accept that fact that ken Russell is to be our District 2 Commissioner for the next four years. I know he is a charming, well-spoken young man who ran an excellent campaign and is victories. But being well spoken and getting voted is no proof of qualifications to the position or assurance of being up for the task at hand. Form the beginning it was obvious that there would only really be three contenders. It was selfish and irresponsible for the other candidates to waist our time at the forums. Most of them where illprepaired and unworthy of even being there. It is too bad that they too votes away from the one candidate that really had knowledge of zoning, government process and has fought for our community for years. I suspect will to be that you will never see most of the candidates including Teresa at any future P&Z or Commission meetings. But I bet you will see Grace Solares because that is what a true blue community advocate does whether they win or lose. Tomorrow is the run-off election that should have been between Grace and Ken, since Teresa did not deserve to be running and neither did the rest of those candidates. I am pleased that the Sarnoff are finally gone (as Term Limits where meant to be) but I feel that District 2 would have been in better hands with Grace at the tiller of this ship. Ken is the victor and I see no reason to vote for tomorrow. Let’s wish him well. Let’s hope he doesn’t disappoint us too soon, when all the greedy developers start to come before the Commissioners requesting up-zoning for more height and density, regardless of the intention of Miami-21.
The Solares' Sour Grapes tour continues...
