Lots of Art and Music at FAM Night
We had a good time at Saturday night's FAM Night (Fashion, Art and Music), we started it off at the Coldwell Banker office in the center of town, where the Chamber Orchestra from the Academy of Arts and Minds, played beautifully for the visitors who stopped by to see the art. Peter Studl, artist and realtor, hosted the event. By the way, Peter has a new publication out called The Best of Coconut Grove. Look for it around town. It's a printed 11 x 17 sheet with upcoming events listed along with local ads.
The Academy of Arts and Minds had another band, their jazz band, performing right at the school on Commodore Plaza, where students' art was displayed outside on the sidewalk.
The 42nd annual Watercolor Society Fall exhibit took place at the Coconut Grove Arts Festival Gallery, there were about 39 artists showing their work, so they brought out a crowd.
There was good food and drinks as usual.A guest looks at Jane Tinney's work, "The Untold Story."
Marinel lo Perla Gonzalez won Best in Show for her rooster painting at the watercolor show. Jane Tinney came in 1st place with "The Untold Story."
The Sonesta Hotel has something special on FAM Night now, the first Saturday of the month. They had their usual walking tour of their standard art collection and next month the plan is to have an artist painting live, but the fun part is the free champagne and the nibblie things like scallops wrapped in bacon. Here Alex, serves Sandi some champagne.
The hotel has art on every floor and you can take a self guided tour at any time. They have a brochure that lists the artists and the work and it's fun to wander around turning the whole hotel into an art gallery.
Campo Deluxe (Dennis Patasi and Ronnie Brooks) performed at the Mayfair Atrium all night. They were good and the crowd enjoyed the music.
I saw a lot of friends last night and it was fun catching up. The local elections were on everyone's lips and Donald Trump on SNL. Those were the two main topics of the night!
