It was a dark and stormy night ...

According to some viewers of this 1927 film, The Cat and Canary is one of the creepiest, spookiest mystery melodramas ever produced. That makes perfect sense for Vizcaya to feature the film as part of their Viewing Vizcaya film series for this week, as they help set the mood for Halloween. This dark comedy takes place in an eccentric millionaire's mansion not unlike Vizcaya on a dark and stormy night.

The event is Wednesday, October 28.
The film stars Laura La Plante as Annabelle West, Forrest Stanley as Charles "Charlie" Wilder, and Creighton Hale as Paul Jones.

The silent film is accompanied by a live theater organist, who will play the score on Vizcaya's historic pipe organ while the film plays. Cocktails and light bites available for purchase; doors open at 6:30 pm.

Tickets are $18 for adults who are non-members; $12 for adult members; non-member child aged 6 to 12 is $6 and member child is $3.

Visit vmgcatandcanary.eventbrite.com for details and to purchase tickets.

Vizcaya is located at 3251 S. Miami Avenue in North Grove.
