Art Box now offering adult art classes
Usually the school services children 5 to 12 years old, but parents and locals have been asking for classes of their own.
"We are thrilled to be adding adult lessons to our curriculum and allow people who have never had the chance to delve into the arts an opportunity to explore various mediums, techniques and creative outlets," says co-owner and program designer of Art Box, Sofia del Rivero.
"Our business's philosophy and plan to expose children to hands-on, cretaive projects, stemmed from an evident lack of art education for children in modern society. Nowadays, you are more likely to see a child holding an ipad rather than a coloring book. But who is to say adults don't need the same consideration? Having the opportunity to express yourself through art is crucial at any age," she continued.
New staff member Johann Munoz will be leading the adult art lessons starting in November. Monthly events will also be open to the public. This in a way, reminds me of the Grove House Artists gallery, which was right across the way from Art Box at the Mayfair Promenade and Blu Moon Studio which is now at Cauley Square, both huge assets to Coconut Grove.
